I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of 2023! It only feels like 5 minutes since I was writing my last Christmas newsletter. This has been a real rollercoaster of a year, and I wanted to take a minute and share my thoughts and reflections.
It’s definitely been a year of change. Back in January we knew that AI was coming, but I don’t think anyone could have predicted how much it would change the world as we know it, and how fast. In the spring I was talking about how ChatGPT prompt engineers could command 6 figure salaries, now we’re all on a first name basis with our chosen AI (remembering of course to say please and thank you so it’s kind to you when the computers take over!).
And with change comes evolution. I’m seeing companies give more focus to how they develop their teams, and I’ve been working with teams in larger organisations alongside my 1-1 work with founders and CEOs. Seeing how organisations operate from both sides of the spectrum has been really illuminating, and given me plenty of food for thought for 2024. It’s also given me a sense of community that I didn’t realise I’d been missing, another thing for consideration next year.
That’s not all I’ve learned this year… Expect the unexpected has become a bit of a catchphrase! I’ve learned that you can plan and plan your time, but that there will often be things that come and derail those plans, which has given me some valuable insights on how I prioritise my time.
I’m excited for what’s in store next year – starting with a new Catalyst cohort at the end of January (so there’s still time to sign up), and a whole host of WiserWednesday guests, starting with the brilliant Tom Carter, Founder and CEO of Ultraleap. Join us on 17th Jan for a deep dive on Scaling through to Series D (sign-up to watch live here).
Until then, have a fantastic Christmas and New Year!
